Hello fellow Qi Movers,

Hope everyone is having a great week so far! In Qigong we practice movements that mirror nature, often including the magnificent qualities of trees...

“Unfurl my body, wind, lift me up into the branches of a majestic beauty that guides a people through life.

I would sway with you, branches, taking that journey across the ages.Tossing my own mane of leaves through the quiet, awaiting air.

Silently, I choose to engage with your wisdom.” ~ Susan L. Marshall

This beautiful excerpt from Susan Marshall's book speaks to the wisdom we can learn through observing trees:

1 - A tree's flexibility to move with the wind. When life becomes challenging it's important not to clench or hold on tight, but to be with the breeze of experience, allowing things to pass through as we stay present in the moment.

2 - A tree's depth of knowledge. Season after season, young trees grow, and extend their branches and leaves soaring higher and higher into the sky, an archive or database of knowing. We're all experts in our own journey, sometimes we just need a reminder of all we've accomplished.

3 - A tree's root system. It's believed that trees communicate and foster connection with each other through intricate root systems that support and empower. We can call upon our own support systems by asking for guidance from people in our network, and also by being there for others, and reaching out to people in need. Just being there or being heard can go a long way.

One of my favorite flows, Dancing With A Tree, showcases how through movement we can be in communion with the elements in nature and connect with the abdunant energy all around us. Qigong is more than just movement, it's a meditation and expansion of who you are.
